Tamariu is the quiet one. A small pebbly cove backed by pine-clad cliffs on the Costa Brava, ringed by a short promenade of family-run restaurants and a working fishing harbour that still brings in the day's catch. No high-rises, no resort buzz, Blue Flag water clean enough to snorkel. If the rest of the Costa Brava feels too busy, Tamariu is the answer — and our collection here is one of the deepest on the coast.
Prestige Villas Spain has been arranging Costa Brava holidays since 2004. We're a family-run agency with a permanent base in Spain, fluent in both English and Spanish, working with established local partners who know each property on the ground. That means accurate availability, the actual nightly rate with no booking-platform mark-up, and a real person to call if anything needs sorting once you're on the ground. Tamariu is one of our oldest and most established locations, and our Tamariu villas make up the biggest single-village collection on the entire site.
Tamariu sits roughly halfway down the Costa Brava, in a cove protected on three sides by pine-clad cliffs. The village proper is small: a single beach promenade lined with restaurants, a fishing harbour, a few independent shops, a Spar Express for basics, and a network of residential streets climbing up the surrounding hills where most of our Tamariu villas sit. Larger supermarkets (Lidl, Mercadona, Carrefour) are 15 minutes' drive away in Palafrugell, which also hosts a large Sunday market.
The beach itself is pebbly rather than sandy, currently holds Blue Flag status, and stays sheltered on windy days when other Costa Brava beaches get rough. The water is among the cleanest on the coast — popular with snorkellers and divers. A handful of smaller coves (El Cau, Cala Aigua Xelida) sit a short walk away along the Camí de Ronda coastal path. Tamariu is also a quieter pick than its near-neighbours: Llafranc (sandy beach, livelier promenade) sits about 90 minutes' walk away along the cliff path via the Sant Sebastià lighthouse, and Calella de Palafrugell another 30 to 45 minutes beyond that.
Our Tamariu villas and apartments make up the deepest single-village collection on the site, spanning a wide range of sizes, budgets and styles:

In the village, days revolve around the beach, the cove and the village restaurants. The Blue Flag water is good for swimming and snorkelling, and you can hire kayaks and paddleboards on the beach in season. The Camí de Ronda coastal path runs through the village — the stretch south to Llafranc (about 90 minutes' walk, climbing past the Sant Sebastià lighthouse) is one of the most popular sections on the whole Costa Brava, and the stretch north toward Cala Aigua Xelida is quieter but just as scenic.
For longer days out: Palafrugell sits 10 minutes' drive inland — the regional market town with a large Sunday market, supermarkets and shops. Begur (medieval hilltop town) and Calella de Palafrugell (whitewashed fishing village) are both 15–20 minutes away by car. Girona's old town, with the cathedral and Game of Thrones filming locations, is around an hour. The Costa Brava's top restaurants — Bo.TiC in nearby Corçà, and several in Pals — are within 30 minutes' drive.
The closest airport is Girona–Costa Brava (GRO), around 60 to 70 minutes by car. Barcelona–El Prat is the alternative, around 90 to 100 minutes. Hire-car desks at both terminals, and we're happy to recommend reliable transfer companies if you'd rather not drive. The village itself is compact and pedestrian-friendly — some properties are within easy walking distance, while others on the surrounding hillsides need a short drive into the centre.
