You couldn’t imagine a more typically Mediterranean location than Cala d’Or on the south-eastern coast of Mallorca. Its whitewashed villas, diverse beaches, opulent marina, chic boutique shops and wonderful dining all combine to make this a real connoisseur’s destination on this sun-soaked island. Our selection of Cala D'or villas sums up the village – stylish, beautiful and overflowing with local flair.

Why book a Cala d’Or villa with Prestige Villas Spain

Prestige Villas Spain has been arranging Mallorca holidays since 2004. We’re a family-run agency with a permanent base in Spain, fluent in both English and Spanish, working with established local partners who know each property on the ground. That means accurate availability, the actual nightly rate with no booking-platform mark-up, and a real person to call if anything needs sorting once you’re on the ground. Cala d’Or is one of our strongest Mallorca collections — a resort town with genuine character, and a range of villas to match.

The Cala d’Or villa collection

We have 28 villas in Cala d’Or — one of our largest single-destination collections, and unusual in that it’s villas throughout. No apartments, no townhouses:

  • Every Cala d’Or villa in the collection has its own private pool. All 28 of them, without exception — most with generous terraces and mature gardens, since the resort’s villas sit in established residential areas rather than on new-build estates.
  • Sizes run from three-bedroom villas sleeping six through to six-bedroom properties sleeping twelve. The smallest property here sleeps six, so this is a destination built for families and groups rather than couples.
  • Six of our Cala d’Or villas sleep ten or more — Villa Marsol and Villa Eric (both six bedrooms, sleeping twelve), plus Villa Blanca, Villa Alma, Villa Mia and Villa Elena (five bedrooms, sleeping ten). If you’re travelling as a multi-generation group or a big friends’ holiday, those are worth asking about first: they book up well ahead of peak season.
  • Some properties sit within walking distance of one of the calas or the marina; others are a short drive up into the quieter residential streets, where you get more space and privacy for the same money.

Click any property in the grid below for full details and live availability. If you’d rather talk it through, we’re happy to match you to the right villa for your group. See our full Cala d'Or villas with private pool page for pool details and comparisons across the collection.

What Cala d’Or is like

A solitary fort was built on this corner of Mallorca in the 1700s, and that could have been where Cala d’Or’s story began and ended. But in the 1930s Josep Costa Ferrer, an architect from Ibiza, saw the potential of the place as a tourist destination and started designing buildings to suit the setting. Within a few years it had become a resort of some repute, with a harbour, a town centre and developed beachfront. That square, low-rise architecture is one of the first things you notice wandering the original parts of town.

Today’s Cala d’Or — the name means golden bay — has kept the air of exclusivity and calm that was part of the original plan. The marina is the hub of the village: an easy place to spend an evening wandering the walkways, settling in at one of the bars along the moorings, watching the boats come and go. There’s a second, smaller marina at neighbouring Portopetro if you fancy a change of scene.

The restaurants are a genuine draw — some of the best cooking on the island, with fresh seafood and locally sourced meat and veg. The local boutiques run from designer to bohemian, and the markets are good for stocking the villa kitchen as well as for crafts and gifts. Nightlife is relaxed rather than raucous: bars and terraces rather than clubs, though there’s enough going on if you want a later night.

The beaches and calas

Cala d’Or’s calling card is its cluster of small sandy coves, each with its own character, all within easy reach of the resort:

  • Cala d’Or beach — the main cove, sheltered and sandy, with the marina and restaurants a short walk away.
  • Cala Gran — the largest of the local beaches, with plenty of space, sunbeds and shallow water. The most family-friendly of the group.
  • Caló d’es Pou — small, quiet and sheltered, tucked in beside the marina.
  • Cala Ferrera and Cala Serena — a pair of neighbouring coves at the quieter end of the resort, both sandy, both good for swimming.
  • Cala Egos — a broad sandy bay a little further along, popular with families and rarely uncomfortably busy.

The water throughout is clear and calm, and the coves are close enough together that you can walk between several of them along the coastal paths.

Things to do in and around Cala d’Or

Beyond the beaches, days here revolve around the marina, the water and the food. The Cala d’Or Yacht Club is the centre of the sailing scene, and boat hire is easy to arrange — anything from a kayak or paddleboard for an hour to a full-day yacht charter along the coast. Diving and snorkelling are good in the clearer coves.

Inland, the countryside opens up quickly. Santanyí (about 15 minutes’ drive) has a well-regarded Saturday market and a handsome old town. Portocolom, a working fishing port with a quieter feel, is around 20 minutes north. The Mondragó Natural Park, with its unspoilt beaches and walking trails, is a short drive south and worth a day. Palma is around 50 minutes by car if you want a city day — the cathedral, the old town and the shopping are all worth the trip.

Getting to Cala d’Or

Palma de Mallorca (PMI) is the airport for Cala d’Or, roughly 50 to 60 minutes away by car. Hire-car desks are at the terminal, and we’re happy to recommend reliable private transfer companies if you’d rather not drive.

A car is useful but not essential: the resort itself is walkable, and most of the beaches, restaurants and the marina are within easy reach on foot from the central properties. If your villa sits in the quieter residential streets, or if you want to explore the wider island, a hire car makes life considerably easier. Local buses connect Cala d’Or with Palma and the neighbouring towns, and taxis are readily available in the resort.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the Cala d'Or villas have private pools?
Yes — every one of them. All 28 villas in our Cala d'Or collection have their own private pool, without exception. Most come with generous terraces and mature gardens too, since the resort's villas sit in established residential areas rather than on new-build estates.
Which Cala d'Or villas are within walking distance of the beach?
Several of our properties sit close enough to walk to one of the calas or the marina. Others are a short drive up into the quieter residential streets, where you typically get more space and privacy for the same money. Tell us how you'd like to balance the two and we'll point you to the properties that fit.
Is Cala d'Or a good destination for families?
Yes. The beaches are sandy and sheltered, with Cala Gran in particular offering shallow water, plenty of space and sunbeds — the most family-friendly of the local coves. The resort is low-rise and relaxed rather than raucous, restaurants are used to children, and the calas are close enough together that you can move between them easily. Most of our villas have private pools, which makes a real difference with younger children.
Do you have Cala d'Or villas for large groups?
We do — six of them sleep ten or more. Villa Marsol and Villa Eric are the largest, both six-bedroom properties sleeping twelve. Villa Blanca, Villa Alma, Villa Mia and Villa Elena each have five bedrooms and sleep ten.

Worth knowing that the smallest villa in our Cala d'Or collection sleeps six, so this is a destination that suits families and groups particularly well. The larger properties book up well ahead of peak season — get in touch early if you want everyone under one roof.
Which airport do I fly into for Cala d'Or, and do I need a hire car?
Palma de Mallorca (PMI) is the airport, roughly 50 to 60 minutes from Cala d'Or by car. Hire-car desks are at the terminal, and we can recommend reliable private transfer companies if you'd rather not drive.

A car is useful but not essential. The resort itself is walkable and most of the beaches, restaurants and the marina are within easy reach on foot from the central properties. If your villa sits in the quieter residential streets, or if you want to explore the wider island, a hire car makes life considerably easier.
When is the best time to visit Cala d'Or?
The season runs from around Easter through to late October. July and August are the hottest and busiest — book early for those months, particularly for the larger villas. May, June and September are our own preference: warm, sunny, the sea is comfortable for swimming, and the resort is noticeably quieter. April and October are pleasant for walking and exploring, though the sea is cooler.
Can I book directly with Prestige rather than through a booking platform?
Yes — you book directly with us. Prestige Villas Spain has been arranging Mallorca holidays since 2004, and we work with established local partners on every villa we represent. No booking-platform middleman, no mark-up on the nightly rate, and a real person to call if anything needs sorting once you're there.
Do you have apartments in Cala d'Or, or is it villas only?
Villas only. Our entire Cala d'Or collection is 28 individual villas, each with its own private pool — no apartments and no townhouses. If you're after an apartment on Mallorca, our Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa collections include some, and we're happy to point you in the right direction.
