The Costa Brava runs along the north-east coast of Spain, from Blanes up to the French border, taking in some of the most distinctive coastal villages in the Mediterranean: pine-clad coves, whitewashed fishing harbours, a medieval hilltop town and a major resort with everything in between. Our hand-picked villa collection covers all five of the Costa Brava villages Prestige works in — each with its own character, each suiting a different kind of holiday. The village-picker below is the fastest way to find your fit.
Prestige Villas Spain has been arranging Costa Brava holidays since 2004. We're a family-run agency with a permanent base in Spain, fluent in both English and Spanish, working with established local partners who know each property on the ground. That means accurate availability on every Costa Brava villa we list, the actual nightly rate with no booking-platform mark-up, and a real person to call if anything needs sorting once you're there. Our Costa Brava villas to rent cover a range of sizes, styles and locations across five villages, from village-centre apartments through to family villas with their own pool and garden. We hand-pick every property we represent on the basis of villas we'd be happy to stay in ourselves.
Our villas in Costa Brava span five villages. Four of them — Tamariu, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell and Begur — sit within a 30-minute drive of each other on the same stretch of coast. Lloret de Mar sits further south, around 60 minutes from the others. All five offer Mediterranean weather, beaches and the famous coastal footpath that links them. Where they differ is in atmosphere — which is what makes the choice worth thinking about before you book:
The quietest of the five. An idyllic cove backed by pine trees, with a single short promenade of family-run restaurants and one of the most authentic feels on the Costa Brava. Pebbly beach, sheltered swimming, no high-rises. Quite a few of our Tamariu villas are within walking distance of the beach. Best for families with younger children, couples wanting a properly quiet break, and walkers using the village as a base for the Camí de Ronda. Browse Tamariu villas.
Long, wide, sandy beach, popular with families, with slightly more facilities than Tamariu — a clutch of waterfront restaurants and bars, pedalo and kayak hire, a working promenade. Sits between Tamariu and Calella de Palafrugell, so it makes a natural base if you want to walk between all three. Best for families wanting a sandy beach within walking distance of the villa. Browse Llafranc villas and apartments.
A working fishing village turned holiday resort that has held onto its character. Whitewashed arched buildings line a series of small coves; Port Bo hosts the Havaneres festival every July. Plenty of restaurants and shops without losing the village feel. Best for visitors who want character and food alongside the beach, and groups happy to swim across multiple small coves rather than camp on one main beach. Browse Calella de Palafrugell villas and apartments.
Inland and elevated rather than directly on the coast — a medieval hilltop town crowned by a castle, with eight separate beaches and coves (including Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Aiguablava and Fornells) within a 5–10 minute drive. Excellent independent shopping, a strong restaurant scene and some of the most dramatic views on the coast. Best for visitors prepared to drive 5 minutes to the beach in exchange for atmosphere and outlook. Browse Begur villas.
The largest and liveliest of the five — a full-scale resort with a 1.5km golden-sand beach, every watersport on the menu (jet ski, parasailing, wakeboarding), waterparks, bars, restaurants and shopping. Best for families with teenagers, groups wanting a livelier holiday, and anyone who wants the security of a big-resort infrastructure. Browse Lloret de Mar villas.
The Camí de Ronda is a coastal footpath that runs the length of the Costa Brava, originally used by smugglers and fishermen, now one of the great coastal walks in Europe. It links most of the villages above — you can walk from Calella de Palafrugell through Llafranc to Tamariu in a few hours, or extend further to Begur's coves. The path hugs the cliff edge most of the way, dipping down to each cove and back up through pine and cork-oak woodland. If a villa within walking distance of the path matters to you, Tamariu, Llafranc and Calella all sit directly on it.
The main airport for the Costa Brava is Girona–Costa Brava (GRO), around 60 to 80 minutes by car to Tamariu, Llafranc, Calella and Begur, and around 25 to 30 minutes to Lloret de Mar. Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) is the alternative, around an hour's drive from Lloret and 90 to 105 minutes from the northern villages. Barcelona has direct year-round flights from most UK airports; Girona has the major routes year-round plus a wider summer schedule. Hire-car desks at both terminals; we're happy to recommend reliable transfer companies if you'd rather not drive.
The hottest months are June to August, with daytime temperatures regularly in the high 20s and warm sea swimming. May, June and September are the quieter sweet spots — warm weather, smaller crowds, lower prices. Spring and autumn are popular with walkers and cyclists on the Camí de Ronda when the heat is gentler. Most of our villas are available from Easter through to late October.
