Alicante-Elche Airport
The main airport serving the Costa Blanca is Alicante-Elche, which welcomes 15 million travellers into the region each year. Alicante-Elche is served by several low-cost airlines, connecting Javea with dozens of major transport hubs across Europe and beyond.
Car Hire
If arriving by air, you’ll find an extensive network of car hire companies in the main arrivals hall of Alicante-Elche. Renting a car is a great way of reaching the resort and exploring the area – Javea being around a 90-minute drive from the Airport. Simply take the A-7 motorway as far as junction 32, after which you will be able to follow the signs for Javea all the way into town.
City Bus Transfer
There’s currently no direct city bus transfer service to Javea, but it’s possible to take the regular shuttle bus into Benidorm and switch to the Javea bus. Waiting times in Benidorm vary, meaning the total journey time can be anything from 2 hours to 4 hours. It’s an extremely economical option, costing around €15.00 for adults and €11.00 per child.
Beniconnect
Operating throughout most of the year, Beniconnect is the official ‘Costa Connect’ shuttle that stops at several major towns and resorts along the coast. It’s a much quicker option than the standard city bus transfer, with a standard single ticket price of €26.00. The bus stops at various prominent locations in the town, making it quick and easy to reach your accommodation.
Taxi
Heading into town by taxi is also an option, though will often attach a one-way price in excess of €100. There are several private companies providing transfers from Alicante-Elche Airport to resorts along the Costa Blanca, though it’s essential to ensure you choose a licensed and registered company. If in doubt, ask an airport worker to point you in the right direction upon your arrival.
Valencia Airport
Significantly expanded and improved over the years, Valencia Airport is smaller, quieter and easier to navigate than Alicante Airport. It’s likewise served by the vast majority of low cost airlines from across Europe.
Car Hire
Again, there’s no shortage of car hire companies to be found in the main arrivals hall of Valencia Airport. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes, most of which is spent on the A-7 motorway until you reach junction 62. You then simply follow the signs into Javea town centre.
City Bus Transfer
There’s a somewhat limited city bus transfer operated by ALSA that connects the airport directly with the bus station at Javea. However, it currently only runs once a day on weekdays (at 9:30am) with a second service being provided each Saturday at 12:30pm. The journey takes approximately three hours due to several stops being made along the way, costing €16.00 per adult and €11.00 per child.
Shuttle Bus
The Linea 150 Metrobus shuttle bus is available from the Airport into Valencia city centre, followed by a half-hour walk to the main bus station. At which point, you can jump on any number of direct services to Javea, which in most cases arrive within 2 to 3 hours.
Taxi
Jumping in a taxi is the quickest way of getting into Javea, typically costing approximately €100 one way. Make sure to enquire if the taxi company is licensed and registered before choosing this option.
Travelling by Sea
There’s currently no direct ferry service from the UK to Javea, or anywhere in the surrounding region. If planning to travel by sea, you’ll need to catch one of the regular connections to the northern coast of Spain. Routes include Portsmouth to Bilbao, Portsmouth to Santander or Plymouth to Santander. After which, the journey to Javea takes approximately 9-10 hours by road. The trip provides the opportunity to pass through some of the country’s most beautiful and important towns and villages.
Travelling by Rail
Though travelling entirely by rail is technically possible, it isn’t the preferred option for most visitors. The reason being that several connecting services must be combined to reach Javea by rail – London to Paris, Paris to Barcelona, Barcelona to Valencia and so on.
