The pretty pine clad slopes that encircle the charming fishing village of Tamariu have always featured high on our list of prime locations along this stunning stretch of coastline. It was therefore with delight that we discovered this villa, which sits on one of the residential lanes that wind their way across this hillside, just 650m from the lovely sandy bay and its adjacent bars, restaurants and local grocery store.

Neatly presented with rooms that are bright and airy, this is a home that is perfectly suited to summer living and forms an ideal base for a holiday by the sea. Occupying much of the ground floor is a light and attractive living room of open plan design that incorporates clearly defined areas for cooking, dining and lounging. From here, doors lead the way to an outdoor dining terrace that looks out across the spacious garden where a grassy bank slopes gently down to the wide lawns that spread out towards the pool and provide a pleasing space for children's play.

The great appeal of this prestigious area of Aigua Xelida is its close proximity not only to a range of rocky coves that will delight snorkelling enthusiasts but also the sandy horseshoe shaped beach of Tamariu, which is just a 12 minute walk away.

Slip the catch of the front gate of the house, stroll along the road past other similar properties, follow the rustic wooden steps downhill and you will find yourself on the picturesque seafront promenade where a handful of excellent restaurants look out towards the water and the colourful boats of local fishermen. From here, keen walkers may wish to follow the coastal path that leads to the majestic beach of Llafranc, perhaps stopping off en route for a drink at the Sant Sebastià lighthouse whilst surveying the far reaching views that stretch from the rugged Mediterranean coastline to the imposing Pyrenean mountain range in the north.
